Radiology
If your pet is ill or injured, the veterinarian may request that
a radiograph be taken. The area of the body is exposed to
x-rays, which cause a picture of the skeleton, and to a lessor
degree the organs, to appear on the film. This picture or
radiograph is used to diagnose skeletal problems, such as
identification of fractures, congenital bone malformations, and
bone cancer. They are also useful in detecting abnormalities
in organ size and location. X-ray films are developed on
site, so results are available immediately.
